If damage to the outer sheathing is detected, the severity of the damage should be assessed immediately; minor damage can be addressed through insulation repair measures, while severe damage necessitates cable replacement to prevent safety hazards such as electrical leakage. Additionally, attention should be paid to the clarity of cable markings; if markings are faded or missing, they should be promptly restored to ensure accurate identification of the cable's routing and function.

 

Temperature monitoring is indispensable. Devices such as infrared thermal imagers should be utilized to monitor the temperature of control cables during operation. Under normal conditions, the temperature of various cable components should remain relatively stable and fall within a reasonable range. If an abnormal localized temperature rise is detected, it may indicate underlying issues such as cable overload or poor electrical contact, requiring further investigation and resolution.

 

Inspecting connection points is critical. It is necessary to verify the tightness of connections at control cable terminations and intermediate joints, checking for any signs of looseness or overheating. Loose connections lead to increased contact resistance, which can trigger overheating and potentially result in burnout; therefore, connection bolts should be tightened periodically to ensure reliable connectivity. Furthermore, the insulation integrity at the joints must be examined; any issues such as aging or moisture ingress should be addressed immediately.

 

Environmental assessment is essential. It is important to understand the environmental conditions in which the control cables are situated-specifically factors such as humidity, temperature, and the presence of corrosive gases. Humid environments can easily degrade a cable's insulation performance, while corrosive gases can erode its outer sheathing. For cables situated in harsh environments, protective measures-such as installing moisture-proof covers or selecting corrosion-resistant cables-should be implemented.

 

Additionally, establishing a comprehensive maintenance record is highly advisable. This record should document information such as the cable model, specifications, installation routing, maintenance dates, maintenance activities performed, and any issues identified. By analyzing this archival data, potential cable issues can be detected proactively, enabling the formulation of more rational maintenance plans. This ensures the long-term, stable operation of the control cables, thereby providing robust support for the safe and reliable power supply of the entire electrical system.
